Most signs of cerebral palsy (e.g., poor muscle definition, poor coordination, difficulty concentrating, loss of interest in surroundings, and abnormal reflexes) can be discerned in infants as young as one month of age. In older toddlers, the inability to perform common motor skills (such as sitting independently) and abnormal developmental patterns (e.g., excessive arching of the back or walking on tip-toe) may indicate the presence of cerebral palsy.
